Police say a woman was seriously injured during an alleged hit-and-run in Shepparton on Friday, June 9, by a teenager who only got her licence that day.

Police received a report that a 22-year-old woman was allegedly struck by a vehicle on Mercury Dve around 11.15pm yesterday.

The Shepparton woman was pinned between two vehicles and subsequently taken to Goulburn Valley Health - and then transferred to Melbourne - with serious leg injuries.

It’s alleged the driver fled the scene.

Police said investigators attended a Mooroopna address several hours later where they arrested an 18-year-old woman.

She is expected to be charged over the alleged matter.
