Robert McLean

Robert McLean is a former editor of the Shepparton News, a role he held for more than 16 years. His life as a reporter began at about 16 when he joined Echuca’s Riverine Herald as a cadet journalist. He left and returned to that newspaper a number of times before moving to edit a small weekly publication at St Arnaud and finally arrived at The News in the early 80s. His editorship of The News ended the moment his Harley Davidson smashed into a car in 1997 - he and his wife, Patt, loved touring on their Harley. Robert was a keen cyclist, loves reading and around 2006, he became passionately concerned about climate change, something he can fortunately discuss in his column. About two years ago, in an effort to increase the volume of his voice, Robert created the podcast, “Climate Conversations”.
