A lead change highlights action in Goulburn Murray Lawn Tennis Association

Both Goulburn Murray Lawn Tennis Association pennant clashes were hard-fought affairs on Saturday with a change at the top of the table.

Shepparton Lawn The Valley (3-8) produced a major boilover by upending ladder leaders Velvet Tigers (7-4) at Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club.

The Valley did just enough, riding the three-win efforts of Jeremy O’Brien after dropping three of the first four ties.

Though Velvet Tigers tied the game up by claiming the final set, The Valley had done enough to prevail 6-81 to 6-71, leading the Tigers to surrender top spot.

The story was largely similar in the meeting between Numurkah Warriors (7-1-3) and Shepparton Lawn Average Joes (4-1-6), where the Warriors claimed first place.

Mark Mills put up three set wins from three, although the Warriors had to contend with Hope Curtis-McDonald doing the same for Average Joes.

In the end, Average Joes could not make up the games gap despite taking the final two sets, eventually falling 6-73 to 6-59.

Rechelle Zammit was on hand at Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club to capture the action.
