An emotional David Mundy farewelled the Fremantle faithful at home for the last time after a regular season game on Saturday night.

The Dockers veteran will hang up the boots at the end of the season, with a home derby win over West Coast the perfect way to say goodbye.

A Seymour product, Mundy was chaired off by his teammates after another impressive performance, collecting 25 disposals including 12 contested possessions on the night.

Will Brodie also put in a good shift at Optus Stadium, with 28 disposals and five tackles for the home side, while Lachie Shultz kicked one goal and two behinds, along with laying six tackles.

At the MCG, Melbourne downed Carlton in a five-point thriller, with Clayton Oliver once again performing well.

The Mooroopna export was all over the ground in the important win, with 29 disposals, nine tackles and eight turnovers making for a crucial contribution.

On the other side of the coin, Benalla’s Caleb Marchbank put in a solid performance in defence for Carlton.

Across town, Port Adelaide produced a big 84-point-victory over Essendon at Marvel Stadium.

Echuca’s Ollie Wines led from the front on Sunday with 31 disposals and nine intercept possessions, while Deniliquin’s Todd Marshall kicked two goals and a point.

Earlier on Sunday, Hawthorn failed to get the job done against Richmond at the MCG.

The 61-point loss was a disappointing one for the Hawks, with Benalla’s Harry Morrison picking up 15 disposals and Shepparton’s Jarman Impey 14 disposals, along with laying five tackles.

Elsewhere, Euroa’s Jamie Elliot and Tallygaroopna’s Steele Sidebottom played in Collingwood’s loss to Sydney, while Mooroopna’s Jy Simpkin racked up 30 disposals as a gallant North Melbourne fell to Adelaide by 29 points.

Shepparton’s Jordan Butts featured for the Crows at Adelaide Oval, with the South Australian’s looking to end their season on a high.

Meanwhile, Laitham Vandermeer featured as Western Bulldogs kept their finals hopes alive and Tom Hawkins had 13 disposals for Geelong in its win over Gold Coast.
