AFL Goulburn Murray is set to conduct four junior football programs over the coming months with the aim of improving junior and female footy participation among younger age groups in the Goulburn Valley.

A free, four-week junior football training program for girls between the ages of 8-14 will be held in Shepparton, and a six-week program in Kyabram starting next week.

The programs will look to create a pathway for girls from Auskick all the way to senior football, with only youth and senior women’s football programs currently in place in a handful of clubs across the region.

Sessions in Shepparton will be held at Princess Park Oval every Tuesday from 4.30pm to 5.30pm for four weeks, commencing next Tuesday, August 16.

Kyabram sessions start next Monday, August 15 at Kyabram Recreation Reserve.

Meanwhile, budding Auskickers can get excited for two Auskick Plus programs that get under way this week.

An all girls and boys inclusive program got up and running yesterday at Kialla Park Recreation Reserve, and will run on Monday evenings for the next six weeks.

Programs will also run at Echuca South Recreation Reserve on Wednesdays from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
