Clubs from across the state will continue to receive crucial financial support from AFL Victoria in 2023 courtesy of its Strategic Community Investment Fund.
AFL Victoria confirmed it would be bringing back the initiative for another year late last week as it continues to help community clubs bounce back from the effects of COVID-19.
During the past two years the SCIF has granted $2,472,000 in funding to Victorian community clubs, regions, leagues and associations.
More than $1,000,000 of that has been paid to community clubs, assisting in a wide range of endeavours that enhance participation and sustainability for players, volunteers and clubs.
Head of AFL Victoria Ben Kavanagh said he was excited to see the SCIF return for another year.
“We are pleased to be able to provide this funding opportunity through the SCIF to clubs that are proactive in improving player experiences, growing participation and assisting the wonderful volunteer workforce at community football,” Kavanagh said.
"In 2023 we hope to see many more clubs utilise the SCIF to help them with projects and opportunities that meet one of the three key strategic areas.”
Football plays a major role in so many regional Victorian towns and communities and is critical in providing participation opportunities and social benefits to people of all ages.
This investment helps ensure the health of the game moving forward and assists those community clubs that may still be struggling.
Interested parties are advised to review the updated 2023 guidelines to ensure applications are aligned with the type of activities that may be funded.
