Safe hands: Seymour’s Sophie Locke had a day out in the Hawks’ thrilling three-point win over West Coast.

Another high-octane round of AFLW played out at the weekend and, once again, our Goulburn Valley talents had a big part to play in a number of exciting wins and losses.

Cats trio Julia Crocket-Grills, Becky Webster and Annabel Johnson starred in Geelong’s exhilarating one-point win over Western Bulldogs in Ballarat on Saturday.

Webster backed up an incredible showing against St Kilda in round five with another superb outing against the Dogs, finding plenty of the ball in her 17-disposal game.

Webster also reeled in eight marks and laid three tackles.

Kyabram’s Crocket-Grills (eight disposals) and Echuca’s Johnson (five) also had a part to play in Geelong’s thrilling win which keeps the Cats inside the top four.

Meanwhile, Mooroopna’s Millie Brown made a long-awaited return to footy in the Bulldogs’ defeat, recording four disposals and going at 100 per cent efficiency in her competitive debut for the Dogs.

Seymour young gun Sophie Locke continued her breakout year at Hawthorn with a mammoth eight tackles against West Coast, helping the Hawks to a nail-biting three-point triumph at Frankston.

Mooroopna product Tamara Smith also made her mark on the contest with 10 touches and a whopping 10 tackles.

Hawthorn overturned a three-goal deficit in the second half thanks to its incessant pressure, surging to a second come-from-behind win in as many weeks.

Richmond won a fourth straight match for the first time in the AFLW and surged into the top eight with a tense four-point victory over Gold Coast.

Shepparton’s Grace Egan had a big influence on the game at Punt Road Oval, collecting 16 disposals and laying six tackles.

Benalla’s Keeley Skepper battled hard in Carlton’s 17-point loss to GWS at Henson Park in Sydney, chalking up eight disposals, two marks and three tackles.

Mansfield’s Bonnie Toogood was a shining light for Essendon in its heavy defeat at the hands of Brisbane.

Toogood managed 13 disposals, three marks and two tackles in the Bombers’ 44-point loss.

Tiger style: Shepparton’s Grace Egan of Richmond played a key role in the Tigers’ win over Gold Coast.
