Gary and Geoff Ablett, Shaun and Peter Burgoyne, the Danihers.

While the players listed above are all famous examples of sibling excellence in the AFL/VFL, one surname left the lips of the One FM commentators the most at Mooroopna Recreation Reserve on Saturday: Lloyd.

Murchison-Toolamba brothers Andrew, Aidan and James Lloyd stood literally — and figuratively — above the rest during the Kyabram District League grand final, with each as impressive as the next in a scintillating victory over Shepparton East.

Aidan Lloyd kicked the first goal of the game and went on to bury two more, while James Lloyd closed the game with his fourth and final effort of the match.

And to ice the cake, Andrew Lloyd left with best-afield merits.

The latter was swept with emotion as a sea of green and gold spilled onto the field, trying to put into words the feeling of sharing in premiership spoils with his siblings.

“I can't even explain it,” he said.

“The amount of love I have for those two, those three with Aidan, James and Jai (Utiger) — it's just something that I will not forget.

“Before the game I was really nervous and I psyched myself down and I was just saying, in 15 years, I'm not going to remember this, it's not going to matter.

“I tell you now, I'm going to remember this — this was unbelievable.”

Just two years ago, the brothers were on the other end of the equation.

They’d just lost the KDL grand final to Lancaster by 10 points.

It hurt. Badly.

But on Saturday at 5.30pm, their decision — and that made by nine others from the fateful day in 2022 — to stick with the Hoppers paid off tenfold, according to Andrew Lloyd.

“I haven't played with a team with more cohesion than this year. It's just been unbelievable,” he said.

“We all know what the other person's role is in the team, it just flows and you could tell today.

“That last quarter, we busted them open just with just trusting our teammates.”
