Anthony celebrates special milestone for Barooga

Special day: Chloe Anthony was presented with her milestone gifts by her aunt and Barooga Football Netball Club life member Jill Toohey ahead of her 200th game for the club on Saturday.

Saturday, May 27 was an occasion to remember for Barooga netballer Chloe Anthony as the Hawk celebrated a special milestone against Tongala.

Anthony took to the court for her 200th game for Barooga at the weekend, a club she has played at since she was a youngster.

Both the sport and Barooga Football Netball Club runs through her blood, with Anthony’s mum, Carmen, and aunt, Jill Toohey, both playing for the Hawks as well.

Anthony was even able to get a few games in with her mum before she retired.

Her aunt Jill, who is a life member of BFNC, presented Chloe with her milestone gifts on Saturday and had the great pleasure in watching her niece play.

Barooga’s executive netball director Gabrielle Florance said Anthony was a true example of what it meant to be a Barooga Hawk.

Anthony began playing netball before there was an official under-11s competition, starting out at the ripe old age of seven.

As Anthony got older and learned skills from some great coaches, she showed talent on the court and her exceptional skills earned her a number of individual accolades.

She is a natural defender but is branching out this season, playing in the mid-court in B-grade after a couple of years off and injury.

Barooga missed out on marking the occasion with a win, falling to Tongala 70-26.

Tongala also earned a big victory over the Hawks in their A-grade meeting as well, prevailing 75-16.
