Despite a valiant effort, the Goorambat C-grade netballers were knocked out of the Ovens and King finals series by a strong King Valley Kangaroos side on Saturday afternoon.

With two wins against the Kangaroos across the regular season, the Bats went into the elimination final clash at Tarrawingee Recreation Reserve as slight favourites.

King Valley came out of the blocks strong, immediately placing the Bats defenders under the pressure the finals series brings.

Attackers Poppy Broomhall and Sophie Hammond were quick to get the ball in the ring and convert the chances they got.

Charli Button put plenty of pressure down the court, getting many intercepts and many turnovers.

Across the midfield, Lacey Carter played well, as did Matilda Hopkins who played her part in wing attack and wing defence.

Likewise, Molly Martin showed her versatility, playing wing attack, goal defence and wing defence, and was an ever-reliable player when the girls got stuck on passes.

Inconsistent passing and finals jitters brought up the downfall of the Bats as it allowed King Valley an early lead it would not give up.

At the final siren it was the Kangaroos who emerged victorious to face Bright who defeated Moyhu 43-30.

Full-time score: Goorambat 42, King Valley 48
