It was a big weekend for Cobram’s Ben Hamilton, with the speedster tackling the Winton Motor Raceway.

Saturday marked round three of the Victorian Pulsar Series and Hamilton put in a number of solid performances in his recently fitted Nissan Pulsar.

Hamilton said it was a good weekend on the track, with four races across Saturday and Sunday making for plenty of action.

“I didn’t quite get the results I was after but any weekend where you go car racing is a good weekend,” Hamilton said.

“I qualified fifth in the qualifying session earlier on the Saturday but in race one and two I finished sixth.

“In race three I had a spin and had to play the catch-up game so I finished eighth and in race four I finished sixth again.”

After crashing earlier this year, Hamilton was forced to fit out an entirely new car and the driver explained that there was still a bit of work to be done before he was back at the front of the grid.

“We’re still trying to develop the new car, I’ve only driven it a couple of times and I’m still just trying to work out the little kinks,” he said.

“There was a bit of mechanical searching and development after Tailem Bend (round two) so we could iron out a few of the creases and we got most of them.

“Then it’s just me as a driver personally I need to get better at driving the new car because it’s a lot different than the older one.

“It’s onwards and upwards and everything is looking pretty positive."

The weekend’s races marked round three of the Pulsar series, with two more events to come over the next two months.

Hamilton will face a trip to Philip Island in August, before the season draws to a close at Winton in September.
