The courts were abuzz with activity as three matches played out in Euroa and one in Mansfield last Monday.

Benalla 4-38 defeated Euroa 2-33:

In a potential semi-final preview, Euroa and Benalla played out the longest match of the day.

Euroa’s Lyndall Bigland, Di Ellis, Julie Harrington and Ruth Nolan were determined, and after the teams split the first four sets, two each way, Euroa led by one game.

Benalla’s Kate Campbell, Claire Sharp, Maureen Jewell and Helen Checucti made their move in the final pairings, winning one 8-3 and the other in a tiebreak to secure the win.

Wappan, 6-48, defeated Moglonemby 0-18:

Wappan’s Anna Speirs, Liza Karras, Jenny Bell and Rhonda Carpenter took a few games to get on to the scoreboard against Moglonemby’s Robyn Johnson and Lyn Johnston and Euroa fill-ins Ros Doxey and Lyn Pierce, who began strongly.

Both teams found cross-court angles and strategic placement, but eventually, Wappan found a way to overcome their opponents in lengthy sets.

Terip 5-45 defeated Seven Creeks 1-16:

Terip’s Bec Lyttle, Cindy Hayes, Phoebe Macdermid and Jenny Martin controlled the play early against Seven Creeks’ Rowena Ellis, Kerry Hewlett, Genevieve Calvert and Mary Dewis.

Not getting it all their way, Rowena and Mary won their final set 8-5 in a tight battle.

Mansfield 6-48 defeated Delatite 0-10:

Mansfield and Delatite met at home in Mansfield.

Mansfield’s Peta Kelly, Michelle Pigdon, Sophie Yencken and Clare Beecham took no prisoners and won easily.

Delatite also needed to forfeit one set during the match.

Creighton’s Creek had the bye.
