Benalla was put to the sword by Echuca on Saturday, the Saints on the receiving end of a 69-goal loss.

Despite matching Shepparton United large in part last weekend, the Saints were no match for a high-flying Murray Bombers as the home side sprinted over the line for a 92-23 result.

Benalla struggled to match Echuca’s pace from the off, falling behind to trail by 19-goals by quarter-time.

An identical second quarter saw the home side enjoy a 48-10 lead at half-time, which only grew as it restricted Benalla to just 13 goals after the main break while piling on another 44 of its own to notch an emphatic win.

Olivia Dalton shone for the Saints during the heavy defeat, as well as Jordan Willcock and Natalie Pritchard.

The Saints sit in 10th after six rounds with one win and five losses to their name, ahead of Kyabram and Mansfield on the ladder.

A game against top side Mooroopna follows the interleague bye, but Benalla’s next four opponents all sit outside of the competition’s top five.
