The grand finals of the Benalla Table Tennis Club winter pennant held on Tuesday, August 27 produced highly entertaining matches.

The grand finals of the Benalla Table Tennis Club winter pennant were held on Tuesday, August 27.

A-grade: Possums 2 - Crocodiles 3

The Possums, Wayne Phillips and Max O'Loughlan, played the Crocodiles, John Bajada and Flynn Mosley.

The first match was between Wayne and John, with Wayne starting well, winning the first two sets comfortably.

John then found his groove and won the next two sets, 11-0, 11-1.

Wayne then hit back and won the fifth and deciding set.

Max than defeated Flynn in four sets to give the Possums a two-nil lead.

The Crocodiles got on the board by winning the doubles in straight sets.

John won in straight sets against Max in an entertaining and close-fought match.

In the final match, Wayne won the first set against Flynn before Flynn struck upon the winning formula of hitting it back, winning the final three sets to the give the Crocodiles the title.

B-grade: The Cockies 3 - Joeys 0

The Cockies, Wesley Shea and Ray Grant, played the Joeys, Brian Perry and Daniel Wright, in the B-grade grand final.

Wesley won the first match in straight sets against Brian, then Ray followed up with a four-sets win over Daniel.

The Cockies won the doubles in straight sets, giving them a three-nil victory.

C-grade: Magpies 4 - Doves 1

The Doves, Andy Donaldson and Brendan Kipping, took on the Magpies, Helen Hyland and Katherine Dibrivnaya.

Andy had a three set win over Helen, before Katherine evened the match with a four-set win over Brendan.

The doubles was an epic five-set match won by the Magpies.

Helen than had a comfortable three-set win over Brendan in the final set to give the Magpies the championship.
