Benalla will be without a talented forward for an extended period of time following Wednesday night’s tribunal hearing.

Josh Mellington received a six-week suspension after he was reported twice for an incident during the round 11 loss to Kyabram last Saturday.

Mellington was reported by a match-day umpire for using abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene language towards or in relation to an umpire and reported by the Match Review Officer for behaving in an abusive, insulting, threatening or obscene manner towards or in relation to an umpire.

Both matters were referred directly to the tribunal.

It was Mellington’s fourth appearance at the tribunal this season and his suspension follows his two-week ban after a round seven incident against Mooroopna.

Elsewhere, Euroa stalwart Marcus Varley will miss his side’s next clash against Benalla.

Varley accepted a one match early guilty plea after he was reported for striking Shepparton opponent Bryce Stephenson last week.

The incident was graded as intentional, high contact and low impact.

In GVL reserves, Seymour’s Max McLean pleaded guilty and received a reprimand for striking a Shepparton United opponent during last week’s contest at Deakin Reserve.

The charge was graded as intentional, body contact and low impact.

Lastly, Nagambie will be without one of its gun young talents for this Saturday’s clash against Avenel.

Reilly Old was reported for rough conduct on Undera’s Caleb Cox on Sunday, with the charge graded careless and high impact.

Old accepted his early guilty plea of a one-match suspension.
