Greta booked its way into the Ovens and King Football Netball League under-15s grand final with an 18-goal preliminary final win over North Wangaratta.

Coming off tight wins against Benalla and Moyhu, the Blues carried good form into the clash compared to the Hawks, who were coming off a heavy 40-18 loss against the top-of-the-table Bonnie Doon Bombers.

Despite the game being played on North Wangaratta's home court, the Blues would fancy themselves to causing an upset. They had just fallen short twice in the regular season by four and one goals in rounds 5 and 15 against the Hawks.

The Blues seized control of the game from the outset, finishing the first quarter with a commanding lead of 10 goals.

The Hawks competed better in the second quarter, but the Blues extended the margin to 12 goals in the second half.

The Hawks stemmed the bleeding to keep the margin the same at three-quarter-time, but the floodgates opened again as the Blues finished the game with a seven-goal-to-one last quarter.

Bonnie Doon is now the only thing between Greta and back-to-back premierships.

The Dons have been the dominant side in the division this season, going undefeated, including defeating the Blues by 16 goals in round four.

Excluding Moyhu in round three, no team has got within 10 goals of Bonnie Doon this season.

The Blues and Bombers face off at WJ Findlay Oval in Wangaratta on Saturday at 9am.
