With victory over Numurkah in round 19, Tongala has achieved a six-year first in the Murray Netball League A-grade competition.

The Blues’ 20-goal win at Tongala on Saturday locked in second spot with one game to play, securing the coveted double chance and booking a qualifying final date with Deniliquin on September 2 out at Nathalia.

It’s the first time since 2017 Tongala has qualified in the top two, marking another positive step in the club’s premiership aspirations.

Despite already securing their spot, the Blues will still have a big say on the outlook of the top six, bringing their home-and-away season to a conclusion against Congupna this Saturday.

The Road, seventh, will need to go through Tongala if it is any chance of toppling sixth-place Echuca United for the last spot in finals, setting up an intriguing final-round shootout between the two clubs.

With one round to play, it looks like the Blues will be well represented in finals.

B, C, and C-reserve grades have already earned qualification, while both under-15 and under-13 grades look poised to join their senior counterparts.
