It’s been a while since Benalla tasted victory, but the Bushrangers won in style on Saturday afternoon.

After the first day of play at HP Barr Reserve, the visitors were in the driving seat after a stellar opening partnership from Priyank “Sunny” Chohan and Michael Honman was followed up by solid stints from the rest of the lineup.

A total of 241 was one of the best Benalla had produced all season, and the bowling line-up was not going to let the prime opportunity for a win slip.

Connor Brodie cleaned up Aaron Thrum’s stumps, with the Colts having only four runs on the board.

Brodie struck again soon after as he bowled Thomas Moore, and the score was 2/20.

Colts Captain Mitchell Giggins and Jessie Smith rallied with 30-plus run innings to keep the home side in contention.

But Sunny struck, bowling the captain, and the in-form Brodie did the same to Smith.

The two bowlers proceeded to tear through the rest of the batting line-up, with the only other wicket going to Ross Cavill.

Brodie ended the innings with five wickets, and Sunny claimed four.

Benalla bowled out the Colts for 99 runs, 142 short of the required total.

The Bushrangers have one two-game match left for the season away at Rovers Bruck United.
