Tongala doled out its second triple-digit thumping in as many games in its first match against Tocumwal in 10 years.

The Blues were comfortable winners back in 2013, and that was the case again at Tongala Reserve in the 150-point victory over the winless Bloods.

A refreshed Tongala marked its return from the bye with a nine-goal first quarter, with the Bloods only able to conjure three behinds in a dominant start for Matt Daniel’s men.

Three behinds would be the sum total of Tocumwal’s scoring in the first half as the Blues ran rampant, adding another eight goals to lead 111-3 at half-time.

The Bloods stemmed the flow of goals but the result was a foregone conclusion as the Blues eclipsed the 20-goal mark for a second consecutive game, running out 24.22 (166) to 2.4 (16) winners.

Makenzie Ryan backed up his 10-goal haul against Rumbalara last round with five against Tocumwal, while Coby McCarthy and Jack Sinclair were in the thick of the goals with three each.

Mitch Gugliotti, Riley Clarke and Ryan Campbell were among the best players, while Drew Haebich, Leigh Morse and Kade Rowe led the Bloods on a dire day.

The Blues have squared their win-loss record at 3-3 and now have two big wins on the spin.

They also managed to climb the ladder, leapfrogging Cobram into fifth spot following the Tigers’ heavy defeat to Mulwala at the weekend.

After clashes against the bottom two teams in recent weeks, Tongala will have a stern test at the other end of the ladder against Numurkah this Saturday in the battle of the Blues.

Numurkah currently sits in third spot and has been in imperious form, knocking off Echuca United in round six after dropping its first game of the year to Congupna.

In the reserves, Tongala stretched its winning streak to six with a 173-0 win over the Bloods, while the under-17 Blues notched their second win of the year 63-15.
