Cincotta and McKernan show September form

Tony Cincotta and Daryl McKernan are the September champions of the Club Challenge and Diggers Tribute events.

Daryl won the Club Challenge on 2/9 when he defeated reigning club champion Jake Thompson.

Jake, who after a lengthy period of work-related snooker inactivity, possibly needed directions to find the premises, played very well to get to the final, but Daryl proved superior to take the Club Mulwala vouchers.

Tony Cincotta made a return to form on 9/9 when he defeated Deb’ Harbrow to bank the Diggers Tribute points for the month.

Tony has been battling injury for some time, so this victory suggest he is very much on the mend. Debbie has been playing very well and continued this form to make the final table.

Daryl and Debbie then followed up with wins on the social nights of 4/9, where Debbie defeated Marty Dermietzel, and 11/9 when Daryl got home in a black ball thriller against youngest player in Luca Macheda.

Daryl and Debbie both made inroads into Kevin Young’s lead in the Player of the Year points table with their consistent efforts.

Spring Triples teams have either 1 or 2 rounds to complete meaning all combinations still have a chance of making the final in early October.

Heie Hansen, Deb Harbrow and Daryl McKernan currently lead the way from Darren Edwards, Kevin Young and ben Dundee but both teams have only one chance left to add to their points tally.

Best of luck to all for the concluding rounds of this much enjoyed annual contest.

The club was delighted to host students from Yarrawonga College P-12 this week.

Club legend Shirley Ridley took the group through a session of coaching of the basics, scoring and rules of the sport followed by a session where all attendees played on the magnificently appointed tables.

The excellent behaviour and attitude of all students is a credit to themselves, their families and Yarrawonga College P-12. The club very much look forward to introducing many more young people to the sport through these sessions.

As can be seen on the Club Mulwala website, its members newsletter and the Club Mulwala Snooker Club Facebook page, the club welcome new members or anyone who may like to give snooker a try. Club Mulwala sponsors the snooker club very generously so the value for money ratio for players is very high indeed.

There are a variety of events held every Monday and Wednesday evening and there are plenty of opportunities for new players to join or come along to try the facilities out.

The snooker club have 2 excellently maintained full size tables, which have recently been re-surfaced and a new state of the art lighting system. The snooker room is available for competition, practice and visitor use, and the club has its own regularly updated handicapping system to ensure players from beginners to advanced level can compete equally.

There are also plenty of experienced and skilled players who can help with advice and tips on how to improve your game or perhaps adapt it for those who have played pub or social pool in the past.

Please contact the club on either 0497 062443 or 0418 361779 or visit on a Wednesday evening before 7.00PM if you would like to give snooker a try.
