Golf royalty will descend on Cobram Barooga Golf Club this week for the TPS Murray River event.

Fresh off a win at the Victorian Open, LPGA major championship winner and Australian golfer Hannah Green headlines a throng of star talents who will battle it out for glory when the TPS Murray River kicks off on Thursday.

The event is named in honour of Aussie golf’s beloved figure and Shepparton champion Jarrod Lyle, who lost his battle with leukaemia in 2018.

Lyle’s legacy lives on through non-for-profit organisation Challenge, which provides daily support for children and families living with cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder.

The fairways at Cobram Barooga Golf Club will no doubt be bathed in yellow in honour of Lyle.

The TPS Murray River is the fourth event of the Webex Players Series and one of the latest inclusions in the series.

The Players Series pits 144 players head-to-head, with 62 males from the PGATA and 62 females from the WPGA.

A new concept in the world of golf, the Players Series provides playing opportunities for male and female professionals competing in the same field for the same prize purse.

Players will be battling it out for $150,000 in prizemoney in the 72-hole stroke play tournament.

The Goulburn and Murray regions will be represented in the event.

Reanna Matthews and Kyle Michel will fly the flag for the Goulburn Valley, while Cobram Barooga’s apprentice pro Steffi Vogel will be gunning for glory on her home deck.

The Webex Series event is part of the Murray River Festival of Golf.

Run across nine days, the fiesta includes a wide range of golf activities for the sport’s growing fan base.

One of the other major draw cards in the past week was the 2022 Australian Mini Golf Open and the Austral Indoor Longest Drive Championship.

The TPS Murray River event runs from February 17-20.
