Round five of the Murray Netball League saw Cobram and Barooga finish with split fortunes.

The Cobram girls took on Nurmurkah and defeated their southern rivals in a tight match 42 to 38.

Unfortunately for Barooga, they couldn’t replicate their arch-rivals’ success, falling to Finley 54 to 29.

Cobram currently sits seventh on the ladder while Barooga sits last.

In the Picola and District netball league, round six saw a similar mix of joy and disappointment for the region’s teams.

Strathmerton saw its winning form continue as they played at home, thrashing Berrigan 54-35.

Yarroweyah fought hard but couldn’t capitalise on their players’ hard work, falling 53-22 against Mathoura, while Katamatite showed Picola United who was boss, defeating them 64-32.

Tocumwal and Blighty finished with a 44-all draw while Katunga took down Jerilderie 59-28.
