Katamatite has issued an ominous warning to the rest of the Murray Valley Cricket Association competition with a clinical win over Cobram at the weekend.

A superb bowling display from Ben Lukies was the standout performance in the Tigers’ 38-run win.

Lukies had the opposition batters in a world of pain as he collected impressive figures of 7-29 from nine overs.

It was a player-of-the-match effort from Lukies, as Cobram managed 8-176 in reply to Katty’s 7-214.

Cobram failed to make it three for three, losing the fourth round and sitting fifth on the ladder.

Things didn’t start well for Cobram, losing the toss.

Shaun Downie and Chase Hardwidge took the most wickets for Cobram, with two each, followed by Jimmy Daniel and Jack Beasley taking one apiece.

Cobram’s top-order batter Manuele Artavilla top-scored with 79 before falling to Ben Lukies and Tyler Green, acting as bowler and fielder, respectively.

In NSW, Barooga continued its unbeaten winning streak, destroying Tocunwal on its home turf.

Barooga won the toss and batted first, with Tocumwal unable to match Barooga’s 4-195 with a disappointing 10-63.

Tocumwal’s Reilly Rennick and Tom Oliver were their team’s best batters before being bowled out by William Sharp and Brendan Lewis after 13 runs.

Tocumwal’s best bowler was Zac Dixon, who took two wickets.

However, batter Kale Watkins far surpassed the home team’s batting line-up, making an astounding 72 runs before being taken out by Liam Sutton and Michael Roberts, working together as bowler and batter.

William Sharp made the second-highest number of runs, with 27, before falling to Andrew Arthur and fielder Michael Roberts.

Barooga is second on the ladder behind Nathalia and in front of Katamatite.

Round five will have Katamatite take on Barooga on its home turf, while Cobram will hope to deliver victory at home when it faces off against Finley.
