It’s set to be a big day this Saturday as two Cobram Tigers junior football teams battle it out against Mulwala at Moama Recreation Reserve.

Cobram Tigers under-14 co-coach Duane Kelly said the club was proud of what the team had achieved this season.

“The boys have all put in the hard work, and all players have made improvements in the season.”

“Players to watch are Sammy D. In the back line, Archie Peters has had a very consistent season along with Hulaif and Vincent Grasso,” Kelly said.

“Through our midfield, other key players are Oliver Benson and Zac Trist. Up forward, we’ll be looking to the exploits of Kohen Verner, and Andre and Alec Corso.”

Archie Peters is now “one of our prime defenders. How he has improved over the last season is remarkable,” Kelly said.

Kelly said he would like to thank all club sponsors and the community for their support.

“We’d like to thank Geoff Benson, our club umpire for our season, who has done a fantastic job. And also to Travis Thompson, our runner, who has been with us through the season. And also Mel DeVincentis, our team manager, who has always had us covered and done a remarkable job through the season.”

The Cobram Tigers under-17 team takes on Mulwala at 10.30am.

Cobram under-17s’ Alex Krause was also voted best-and-fairest at the Murray Football Netball League presentation ceremony on Sunday, September 15.

“We’ve got a lot of really good players,” Cobram Tigers under-17s coach John Brunskill said.

“We play as a team.”

“Hopefully, we can use our spread and our ability to run the ball,“ Brunskill said.

“Krause is certainly going to play a big part [on the day], as is Paulie Degei.”
