After a long and tumultuous season, Mathoura’s senior side will return home for their final game of the season tomorrow.

In what has been a year of rebuild for the club, with many challenges along the way, the Timbercutters will face one more before the season ends.

They will take on potential grand final contender Waaia.

Waaia will head into the finals in second place, having only loss one game for the season.

Tungamah is the only side to sit above them and sit on equal points.

Waaia are coming off a 40-point victory against third place Strathmerton and will be looking to ensure they keep their winning streak alive in the final week before finals.

The young ‘Cutters side, which is made up mostly of under-17s players, will focus on finishing the season strong, with 100 percent effort as they have done all season.

They currently sit in 14th position, with only one win against Yarroweyah for the season.

The Timbercutters revival will continue next year under the experience of Tim McCormick, a 200-game life member and 1993 premiership player at the club, and Mathoura’s current playing assistant coach Nick Ferrari.

Play for tomorrow’s game will start at 2.05pm at Mathoura Recreation Reserve.

No other Mathoura team is in with a chance for finals, with the reserves and under 14s both in last place heading into this weekend’s round, and the under-17s second to last.

On the courts, the under-17s netballers have the highest ladder position of any ‘Cutters netball side.

They sit just outside the top eight heading into tomorrow’s game, but are unlikely to win the points to ascend against third placed Waaia.

A-grade sit at 12th, B-grade at 13th, C-grade at 14th, C-reserve at 13th, under-15s at 11th and under-13s at 10th.
