Tatura has officially secured the Central Victorian League Two Women’s championship.

The Ibises were all over Swan Hill on Sunday at Howley Oval, piling on 14 unanswered goals to lock in a top place finish with one game remaining.

Coming off a heartbreaking cup final loss the week previous, the home side bounced back in emphatic fashion, with Nicola Minicozzi scoring her first of three goals four minutes in.

Minicozzi was joined by Colette Suter on the score sheet soon after, with the talented goal-scorer hitting a hat-trick within the space of 12 minutes and seven in total for the game.

The duo was joined by Amelia Rando, Kahlia Rathborne, Amanda Posteraro and Gabriela Posteraro on the scorers’ list and coach Damien Rosella said it was awesome to secure a first place finish.

“I think the girls deserve to finish on top,” Rosella said.

“We went from a sad, sorry change room after we lost the cup final to Sunday where we were happy and excited.

“They put in a good effort yesterday and the result speaks for itself.”

Rosella said it was a great team effort from the side, with the youth in the line-up particularly standing out.

“Our main goal now is to finish off the season and then work on our first final,” he said.

“If someone had of said to me at the start of the year that ‘you’re going to finish on top’ I probably wouldn’t have believed it.
