Games don’t get more important than this.
It is shaping up to be a massive weekend of Central Victorian League One Men’s action, with the table-topping Shepparton South taking on second-placed Tatura in round 12 action.
The Sunday afternoon clash at Tatura’s Howley Oval will go some way to deciding who wins the league title, with South currently three points ahead of Tatura.
Last time out the Ibises fell in a narrow 3-2 loss, however Tatura coach Tristan Zito said the side would be looking to go out and get the three points this weekend.
“We’ve got pretty much a full strength squad so I think everyone is up for it and we know how important it is as well so I’m sure we will be pumped up come Sunday,” Zito said.
“I think after the first time we played them we didn’t perform at our best so we’ll be looking to rectify that and even it up again so the boys are all excited.”
Tatura are likely to be a handful for South, with goal-scoring talents such as Zac Ferlauto, Cody Sellwood and Zito all in fine form of late.
South has been just as strong this season, not dropping any points so far.
Coach Rob Harmeston will be hoping his side can continue its league domination on Sunday.
Sunday afternoon’s game will kick off on at 3pm in Tatura.
Meanwhile Shepparton United’s men’s side will battle Epsom at McEwen Reserve.
It is a must-win clash for United, with the side looking to secure a top four spot and after a 1-1 draw last time out, Lewis Coyle’s men will be aiming to rejoin the winners’ list.
In the League Two Men’s competition the Shepparton Jaguars will welcome the Deniliquin Wanderers to Vibert Reserve, with the second-against-third clash set to begin on Sunday at 1pm.
- In the League Two Women’s competition Shepparton United will welcome Spring Gully United to McEwen Reserve on Sunday at 11am.
Sunday morning’s game will be a big one for both sides, with Spring Gully sitting in second and Shepparton United in fourth.
United coach Lucy Ciancio said both sides would be wanting to secure the win as much as the other.
“It’s definitely going to be a strong game this weekend, Spring Gully are a good side,” Ciancio said.
“The girls are doing well and hoping the hard work pays off on Sunday.”
Ciancio said United would be missing a couple of players due to holidays on Sunday.
“I’d like to see them (United) all give me 110 per cent on Sunday,” she said.
“All in all whatever the result is I’ll be happy.”
In the League Two Women’s competition Tatura has the bye.
