Brownlow medallist and 2010 premiership player Dane Swan is making the journey to Shepparton once again.
This time, the former Collingwood footballer will be at the GV Hotel for his live show, Dane Swan ‘Live and Uncensored’ on March 1.
The five-time All-Australian midfielder said he talks about all things football ― how he started, the controversies, the highlights, the ‘‘rat pack’’, the end-of-season trips ― as well as life after, such as his experience on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
“Funnily enough I’ll be talking about myself, which is pretty easy for me to do,” Swan said.
“Whether I like it or not, I’m an open book.”
The evening will include an audience Q&A and a silent and live auction with limited-edition Collingwood premiership memorabilia.
The Q&A section is one of the highlights of the show and, knowing the show is in a hotel, crowd members are likely to have some liquid courage when it comes to what they ask.
But Swan said he was open to any questions as he believes the more unique, the better.
“I’ve never been offended by a question,” he said.
“The black-and-white questions can get a bit monotonous and stale. So the stranger or the weirder, the better, footy related or not.
“Nothing surprises me. I’ve been around for a while.”
During the last football season, Swan travelled up to the Goulburn Valley to ply his trade in a couple of local matches for Merrigum and Mathoura.
The former Magpie said he enjoyed venturing out of Melbourne to play football.
“If I’m going to a footy club, that generally means they love their footy and their sport and I certainly do too,” he said.
“I’m going to give it (playing football) one more year.
“It’s slowly going past me. It’s more in the rear-view mirror than the front.”
Recently, it was announced that the 39-year-old would be fighting friend and former teammate Dale Thomas just before Gather Round as part of an amateur boxing card.
Swan believes that it should be a fun night for fans as they can watch himself and Thomas battle it out in the ring.
“Hopefully, we go out there and punch each other and I win,” he said.
“Look, obviously, we aren’t professionals and there are some proper boxers on the card, so I don’t want to take away from them. The fight is meant to be the fun part; the training is the hard part.
“I don’t have too many brain cells to lose, so even if he (Thomas) does punch me I don’t think it’s going to be too much of an issue.”
