Moama Echuca has picked up an important win in the race for finals football after topping Epsom 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
A hat trick for Asha Davies secured victory for the Border Raiders and clinched a key three points that lifts them into third spot on the table.
Despite the comfortable scoreline, Moama Echuca faced a difficult task from the get-go at Jack Eddy Reserve.
The home side had just nine players on the pitch in the first half and they were soon reduced to eight in the second half.
Even with fewer players on the pitch, the Raiders took a 1-0 lead into the break after an open first 45 minutes.
Some tactical changes and playing style adjustments in the second half saw Moama Echuca dictate possession and control the game.
The adjustments worked wonders — the Raiders were rewarded for their efforts with two more goals, with Davies netting both.
Her three goals on the day brings Davies’ tally for the season into double digits. She has found the back of the net 11 times in 2022 — eight goals in the league and three goals in the cup.
The win sees Moama Echuca move back into third spot on the ladder, ahead of Castlemaine Goldfields FC with four rounds left to play.
The Raiders are on 16 points this season with five wins, three losses and one draw — five points behind league leaders Kyneton District SC and second-place Tatura SC.
Moama Echuca will be back in action this weekend when it takes on Castlemaine in the League Cup at noon on Sunday at Jack Eddy Reserve.
