Just like its weekend counterpart, Rich River scored its first win of the midweek pennant season this week, thanks on this occasion to the heroics of skip Dennis Demeo.
The Campaspe Playing Area contest at Rich River Bowls Club could have easily swung Stanhope’s way, the visitor earning hard-fought wins in two rinks.
Jennifer Crilly (18-17) and Austin Maxwell (21-17) both earned their side points, but it was Demeo’s squad of Eugene Xodo (lead), Margaret Young (second) and Bev Trengove (third) which scored a massive 33-17 victory to give their side the overall honours 12-67 to 4-56.
Echuca continued its dominance, earning a 16-86 to 0-46 win over Rochester.
Skip Ian Page scored the biggest win of the match-up, earning Echuca a 31-13 result.
Roma Opie and Kerryn Evans also scored confident victories for the league-leader in the comprehensive win.
Moama returned to the winners' column, beating Deniliquin 14-64 to 2-51.
Skips Marilyn Stephenson and Robyn Thomassen each put up 23 shots, enough to take two rinks for Moama.
Stephen O’Brien’s 22-18 triumph was the lone bright sport for the Deniliquin effort.
Mathoura had the bye in Division One.
Division two
Echuca put up a huge score against Ky Valley View, winning 16-102 to 0-35.
Skips Trevor Nagorcka, Pam Lewis and Malcolm Thorn each scored more than 30 shots on the way to the mammoth victory.
Moama also won all three rinks, albeit by a smaller margin, defeating Deniliquin RSL 16-76 to 0-51.
Moama skip Mia Young had the biggest impact on the final margin, taking her rink 29-16.
Rochester got the better of Rich River, 12-65 to 4-51.
Skip Jim Arthurson scored a nail-biting victory for Rich River 21-20, teammate Heather Freeman also earning a rink, but Lyn Moon dominated for Rochester, taking her rink, 27-9 and handing her side the match.
