Nineteen local primary school students performed well at the recent NSW PSSA Athletics Carnival in Sydney, but none made it through to the next round of competition.
Students from Deniliquin North, Deniliquin South, Edward, Bunnaloo, Mathoura and Moama represented the Riverina at the carnival from October 22-24.
Every single competitor achieved a personal best in at least one event, showcasing remarkable individual growth and determination.
Highlights of the carnival included Vivienne Thompson from South Public School being selected as one of the Rivierina’s two flag bearers for the opening ceremony.
Lotus Galpen-Brown of Deni North School was also commended for her dedication to both academics and sport, fitting in a state public speaking final in Sydney while in the city for the carnival.
