Deniliquin juniors brave the heat

Deni Junior Tennis Section One underway last Saturday.

It was quite warm last Saturday for players involved with the Deniliquin Junior Lawn Tennis Club, but still, they all turned up for another enjoyable morning of tennis.

Each of the children in the red, orange and green coaching groups enjoyed a Zooper Dooper, courtesy of the sponsors - Deniliquin Travel Centre, Justin Zanatta Contracting, Physio Fit, Elmerinos, Fellows Bulk, Cotton Tale Agronomics and also kind donations from the Starritt and Grimwade families.

It was appreciated immensely, as the children were quite hot after their intense coaching lessons.

Section One saw some mixed results, with Nutrien Ag just beating JC Earthworks by three games after both teams had won eight sets each.

Hugo McGrillen and George Pisasale helped Nutrien over the line, with both winning their three sets.

The other match was quite one-sided, and had a lot of green ball kids elevated to play.

Although this was a great experience for them to play matches, CWS showed no mercy and won 15 sets to Wyoming’s one set.

This week will see most teams back to full strength with some top players returning after being away, and it looks like it may be another hot one.
