Eagles, Swans and Goannas dominate in table tennis showdowns

At the Lima School Hall, the Eagles’ Eleanor Renkin, Jim Renkin and Shaun Murphy narrowly defeated the Galahs’ Andrew and Laurence Donaldson three rubbers to two.

Murphy won both of his singles rubbers, and the Donaldsons won a singles each.

The Eagles won the three-game doubles to clinch the win.

At the Albert Heaney Oval Pavilion, the Swans’ Chris Seeley and Damian Young defeated the Magpies’ Pete and Kate Smith three rubbers to two.

Pete Smith won both of his singles rubbers, and Young and Seeley won a singles each.

The Swans secured the win with a win in the doubles.

Also at Swanpool, the Goannas’ Joel and Keith Bickerton defeated the Tigers’ Paul and Wesley Shea four rubbers to one.

Shea took one game off Joel Bickerton in their singles rubber and the Tigers won the doubles, but the Goannas were too strong overall.

Two matches this week were played at Tatong Hall.

First, the Bombers’ Colin Exton and Melissa Mounsey defeated the Wombats’ Andrew and Mark Marriott three rubbers to two.

Exton won both of his singles rubbers, and both Marriotts won a singles rubber.

Then the Emus’ Rob Erskine and Dheeraj won four rubbers to one against the Turtles’ David Beer and Mike Larkin, but only after battling in four of the rubbers that went to three games each.

Erskine won both of his singles rubbers, and Beer and Dheeraj won a singles each.
