What a week Grace Moyle is having.

Last Thursday, the Echuca whiz received a call up to the Victoria Country under-19 squad for the Female National Championships to be held in Perth from December 2-9.

A few days later, she demonstrated why she deserved a spot on the plane.

Suiting up for Carlton in round one of the Victorian Premier Cricket Women’s Firsts T20 competition on Sunday, Moyle blasted a team-high 39 runs batting at four during the Blues’ win over Essendon Maribyrnong Park.

The skilful right-hander slapped five to the ropes and two right over them during a hardy middle order stand, helping Carlton to a defendable total of 5-167.

Moyle and fellow Goulburn Valley export Mia Earl (Old Students) were able to hold on for a 12-run victory over the Bombers, which features Puckapunyal product Madison Albers.

Earlier in the year, Earl made the Vic Country under-19 Female Emerging Players squad, but has not yet graduated to the real McCoy alongside Moyle.

Instead, the Echuca gun will serve under the tutelage of Australia’s Indoor Female Cricket World Cup winning captain Nicole Martin at the under-19 Female National Championships in two months’ time.

Martin will be assisted by former Melbourne Renegades spinner and Cricket Victoria female talent development manager Cassie Brock, who was eager to work with the likes of Moyle in a hotbed of country talent.

“It’s been great to see the level of commitment from players to develop their game across the winter program and we all can’t wait to see players continue their development as cricketers and test their abilities against the rest of the country,” Brock said.
