Midweek bowls are reaching a fever pitch as the Goulburn Valley Playing Area Edna Harling Shield mirrors its weekend counterpart by whittling down to three leading contenders.

Seymour (9-1-3) did its job early, accounting for bottom-placed Rushworth (2-11) in relative comfort, 14-74 to 2-52.

With Shepparton Park meeting Golf in a top-two clash, Rushworth was able to deny Seymour the necessary rinks to jump in the ranks.

In that top-of-the-table affair, Golf (9-4) made an enormous statement at the expense of its local rival, scooping the pool in a 16-80 to 0-65 rout of Park (8-5).

Park remains in second, with a near-miracle required to reach the top while only holding a one-point gap over Seymour.

Meanwhile, Kyabram (6-1-6) took care of business with fervour, sweeping Euroa (6-1-6) as the Bombers claimed fourth place for their own in a dominant 16-72 to 0-54 win.

Tatura-Hill Top (6-1-6) was able to keep its season alive in the penultimate round with a crucial 15-68 to 1-56 win over East Shepparton (4-9), setting up a near-certain win-and-in meeting with Kyabram next week.
