Cross-code talent Georgia Gall has taken her first official step with Melbourne’s AFLW side after making her senior debut last weekend.

Initially out of Euroa, the 19-year-old was first selected by the Demons with the 72nd overall selection in the 2022 AFLW Draft.

Before switching to Australian rules, though, Gall plied her trade as a junior at Euroa Cricket Club as an all-round star on the rise.

She was on top of her junior football as well, keeping sharp with the Seymour Lions.

Her middle-order hitting and medium-pace attack saw her admitted to several junior representative teams at national carnivals before the Melbourne Stars called her up to the Women’s Big Bash League in 2020.

Since forgoing the willow in favour of the Sherrin, Gall has found the Demons side a difficult one to break into, as the Demons have cultivated a side that shapes as perennial contenders.

Gall got to take her bow in Saturday’s 32-point win over Fremantle at Casey Fields.

This result saw Melbourne Football Club secure the AFL’s $1 million McLelland Trophy prize for combined regular season performance across the men’s and women’s competitions.

Drafted as a tall defender who could play across half-forward on occasion, the 183cm utility notched five touches and drifted up to score 0.1.
