Exciting week ahead for golfers

Last year’s Men's Spring Classic 36 hole winners Graeme Rothwell and Peter Hayes.

There is a huge week ahead at Deniliquin Golf Club, both on and off the course.

It starts tonight with the Blind Footy Tipping dinner, which is one of the biggest social events on the annual calendar.

A big crowd will gather in the main function room, where participants in this popular competition will eagerly await the countdown to the winners.

The courtesy bus will be available tonight, and to secure your ride phone (03) 5881 1325 or 0419 460 559.

The golfing action starts tomorrow when players tee off in the SunRice Spring Classic.

The fourball best ball stableford event will be played on Saturday and Sunday, with 18 hole events each day, and a combined 36 hole event.

Excellent trophies are on offer, so good luck to all players.

Throughout the week there will be a string of stableford events – 9 holes on Tuesday, then medley stableford on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Then next Sunday, September 22 we have the Navorina Charity Day, which is the usual charity day format of four-person ambrose.

Assembly is 11.30am for a 12 noon shotgun start.

The prize for the winning team is $400, and $200 for runners-up, with a ball competition and nearest the pin on all par three holes.

The $30 entry fee includes golf and a sausage sizzle.

Raffle tickets will be available for $2 each, or three for $5.

Also, not far away is the Veterans’ Week of Golf, from October 13 to 18.

Entry forms are on the club website.
