A staggering number of players were cited in last week’s Kyabram District League senior grand final.
A total of 13 players were reported in Lancaster’s grand final triumph over Nagambie.
Five players have been sent directly to face the tribunal next week, while a further eight accepted early guilty pleas.
Due to the reports occurring in a grand final, the suspensions have had a 100 per cent loading applied ― in line with the National Community Football Policy Handbook, Appendix 1, Point 6.
Nagambie forward Patrick Rattray accepted a five-match suspension for engaging in a melee and making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the face of another person.
The report was graded as intentional, low impact and high contact.
Lancaster’s Ricky Thomson received a five-match suspension for the same report and grading as Rattray.
Nagamabie’s Mitch Sanderson was suspended for three matches for engaging in a melee and engaging in rough conduct.
His teammates Syd Voogt, Tom Barnes, Nathan Fothergill and coach Tyrone Muir accepted a one-match suspension for engaging in a melee.
Nagambie ruck Jonathan Moore was reported for carelessly striking which was graded as low impact and high contact.
He accepted an early guilty plea of one match.
Each of those players were reported as a result of incident referrals.
Two match-day reports stemmed from the reserves grand final, with Murchison-Toolamba’s Brayden Cecchin and teammate Jye Heaney set to miss matches next season.
Heaney was reported for striking and accepted an early guilty plea of a three-match suspension.
The striking charge was graded intentional, low impact and high contact.
The following KDL senior players are off to face the tribunal next week.
Lancaster trio Lachlan Boscarini, Matthew Fleming and Noah Sewell were reported for engaging in a melee.
Wombat ruck Nicholas Ryan will join them after he was reported by the umpire for headbutting or making contact to another person using the head (graded as intentional, medium impact, high contact).
He was also reported for attempting to strike and for instigating a melee and engaging in a melee.
Nagambie’s Mitch Lusted was reported by the umpire for striking another person (intentional, medium impact and high contact), as well as instigating a melee and engaging in a melee.
Lastly, Euroa’s Ben Giobbi has been referred to the tribunal following a report during last week’s Goulburn Valley League preliminary final.
Giobbi’s striking charge was graded as intentional, medium impact and high contact.
