Five Rams sides in the semis

Ricky Gittens was deadly in front of goals and general play in the first week of finals.

Five Deniliquin Rams sides are still in the hunt for finals glory, and will play in Murray League semi-finals this weekend.

The Deni Rams senior footballers progressed after a win in a thriller against Mulwala at the weekend.

The local side trailed at every break in the game, the biggest being the 26-point lead Deni chased down in the final quarter to eventually win 14.9 (93) to Mulwala’s 11.11 (77).

The Rams cannot let themselves drop behind when they meet top side Moama this weekend.

But Deni should be buoyed by their two previous match-ups with the Magpies from earlier in the year, with the Rams winning on both occasions.

Both wins for Deni against Moama this year have been by 40 points or more, the first in Moama and the second at Hardinge St in round 14.

As the Deni Rams reserves finished on top of their ladder, this weekend will be their first game of the finals.

Also playing this weekend are three netball sides.

The under-17s secured their place in the semis with a win last weekend, while C-grade and B-grade start their finals campaign this weekend.

Saturday’s finals will be played at Rumbalara, and on Sunday the action will be in Finley.

Deni Rams finals games for this weekend are as follows:

Netball:

Saturday: C-grade vs Tongala, 10,45am; B-grade vs Tongala, 12pm.

Sunday: Under-17s vs Rumbalara, 9.30am.

Football:

Saturday: Reserves vs Mulwala, 12.20pm.

Sunday: Seniors vs Moama, 2pm.
