Antarctic-like winds blew through Nagambie this week, making golfers wonder if winter had returned.

Despite the less than ideal conditions, 28 brave competitors still made it out for the fourth round of the social club trophy.

Michael Sloan was the winner with a clinical 39 stableford points.

Sloan got off to a slow start but after a fourth hole mental reset got things going, finishing with an eagle and two birdies from the next 14 holes.

Runner-up was Chris Roberts with 38 points and the bronze on countback went to Gary Bow, who hit the ball solidly for his 38.

Nearest-the-pin winners were John Gale on the third, Michael Sloan on the eighth and Bill Leviston on the 13th.

Next week’s golf moves to Saturday, September 21, with a par event being contested.

On office duty will be Jeremy Ezard and in the bar, William Le Cerf.
