The Finley Autumn Cup is returning on Saturday, March 4 with gates opening at 11am at the Berrigan and District Race Club .

The family-friendly event is a highlight of the Finley racing and social calendar and has been running for nine years.

Entry is $20 for adults, $10 for pensioners with under-16s getting free entry.

Berrigan and District Race Club secretary Janine Murphy said the event was an opportunity to gather as a community.

“It’s a big social country race day and we have had fantastic support from the Finley businesses and the community. Everyone is very much looking forward to getting together with friends and family.”

The day will feature a five-race program, including the Jim & Eileen Fisher Memorial Maiden Plate, the AF (Bert) Honey Church Memorial Race and the Finley Autumn Cup Handicap.

There will be full TAB and bookmaker facilities available for attendees.

Like all big race days fashion will be a big part of this year’s event with prizes available from local Finely businesses.

“We encourage attendees to dress in their best race outfits and enter on the day for the fashion competition with great prizes to be won,” Mrs Murphy said.

There will be takeaway and dine-in food options available and children will also be catered for with organisers having a jumping castle, fairy floss, snow cones, popcorn and face-painting available for their enjoyment.

To ensure patron safety both before, during and after the event, buses will be available from Tocumwal to Finley.

The event is strictly no BYO alcohol.

Mrs Murphy is hoping that attendees will have a day to remember.

“The event is growing every year. Attendees will hopefully come away with new friends and comradeship having enjoyed a fun day out, being entertained and having a bet on the horses”.
