The Bats have a new, familiar face taking on the A-grade netball coaching job.
Goorambat and District Football Netball Club life member Amelia Gall will return to the top netball job.
In 2023, Gall stepped back from coaching the A-grade side but did not step away from coaching altogether, instead taking on the reigns of the B-reserve side.
Gall has played more than 350 games at the Bat Cave and has a stellar resume, having been involved in multiple premiership and finals campaigns.
Her leadership and experience will be an invaluable asset for the A-graders in 2024.
Gorambat and District Football Netball Club president Kate Nolan was excited to have someone who lives and breathes the club in the top job.
“She’s definitely a stalwart of our club,” Nolan said.
“Taking it (the A-grade coaching job) on again is a big role.
“She’s also taking on the netball co-ordinator position at the same time.
“So she’s got her hands full, but she’s always a very dedicated coach. She loves her role, and she’ll do a fantastic job. I have no doubt about that.”
The Bats have also locked several other netball coaches for 2024.
A-grade star Kylie Relf will continue as B-grade coach in 2024, while Kaylah Deviln and Alyssa Priest will coach the 15-and-under sides next season.
Nolan said it was great to have a mix of youth and experience in the coaching ranks.
“Relf is also another stalwart of the club,” she said.
“She’s been around a long time and is really somebody that a lot of the junior girls look up to.
“She’s always willing to lend a hand to the junior girls.
“She took on the B-grade girls for the first time this year, and she made it a couple of weeks into finals, so that was really good.
“So I guess she’ll be looking towards trying to better that for this coming season.”
“Alyssa has been at the club for quite a while.
“She had a bit of a break from the club for a year, but her family, her dad and brother, play footy here, and she’s always had that tied back to Goorambat.
“She played in the under-17 team this past season, but she’s now too old, so she’ll be moving up to seniors next year, as will Kayla.
“Kayla comes to us from All Blacks, and she’s obviously good friends with Alyssa.
“That’s really good to have welcomed a new young player and coach. She’s very keen and willing to talk to anybody and all that sort of thing.”
The Ovens and King League Club is also putting the call-out to new players interested in playing in the younger age groups at Goorambat next year.
The club is still on the lookout for B-reserve and C-grade netball coaches for 2024.
