The Benalla Bushrangers fell just short in a thriller at Gardens Oval on Saturday, unable to reach City Colts’ first innings score of 92 after 20 overs.

Benalla’s Bayleigh Dervish (3-4) had the Kookaburra laughing in the first innings with a blistering three-wicket haul and two maidens.

With the blade, openers Jonty Priest and Lucas Ham did the damage with classy knocks of 26 and 33 respectively.

But Benalla’s lower order was unable to capitalise on the strong start from its openers, as it fell just shy of the total required with 6-87 after 20 overs.

Ensign photographer Brenden Paddock got along to Gardens Oval on Saturday morning to capture some of the action.
