The stars of tomorrow are gearing up for a thrilling finals series.

Goulburn Murray Junior League had its penultimate round of the home and away season for its under-16 competition on Sunday.

A tightly-contested match between co-tenants Shepparton Notre Bears Maroon and Shepparton United highlighted the round nine fixture.

The Bears looked in control across the first half, outscoring the Demons 39-24 at Deakin Reserve.

However, a scoreless third term for the Bears gave United a one-point lead at the final change.

In the last quarter, the two sides remained deadlocked, with both teams kicking only one goal.

United ended up walking away victorious, winning the match 7.4 (46) to 6.12 (48).

Liam Broom was at his usual best for the Bears, while United’s Tanner Armstrong was on fire for the Demons.

In other matches, Shepparton Notre Bears Gold’s Riley Myers’ hot run of form continued.

After kicking a bag of 10 goals the previous weekend, the Bears star forward backed it up against Mooroopna on Sunday.

Myers booted nine goals to make it 19 in his past two games and 58 from 12 matches this season.

Fellow star forward Alex Whitlock booted four goals for the Bears as they went on to win the match by 113 points.

Tatura secured a dominant 78-point win over Shepparton Swans.

Young gun Bulldog Caden Robbins booted a game-high five goals for his side.

Echuca Murray defeated Echuca by 18 points in the derby, while Kyabram had the bye.
