Shepparton District Tennis Association was back in action at the weekend, returning from two weeks off to set the courts alight.
Two games were played in the second round of pennant matches, with McEwen Reserve having the bye.
At Kialla Recreation Reserve, Central Park claimed its first win of the campaign, downing Kialla Park Old Students 3-36 to 6-44.
Starting the game on the front foot, early signs pointed to the Students picking up the win.
Taking out the first three rubbers thanks to Aaron Plant, Kieran Moon and Brenton Kiel, the home side was in the box seat, however, the tide soon changed.
A remarkable six-rubber winning streak enabled Central Park to take the win, with each member of the squad playing a key role to get the result.
A big 1-6 win to Janelle Pottenger and Georgina Schifferle in rubber five proved to be important, as the team did enough to get over the line.
In the other pennant clash, Shepparton North inflicted a 2 (33) to 7 (49) defeat to McEwen Reserve on its home turf.
Making its way to a 3-1 lead thanks to the work of Josh Mei, Tim Comer and Justin Hunter, Reserve looked on track for its first win of the season, however, it was not to be.
Like Central Park across town, Shepparton North would go six rubbers undefeated to secure the win.
One game was played in A1-A2 division, with St Brendan’s playing host to Karramomus.
A gallant fightback was not enough for the home team to take out the win, with the visitors winning 3 (29) to 6 (47).
Elsewhere in the A3 division two games went ahead, while McEwen Reserve and Shepparton North Gold did not play.
At Shepparton North Tennis Club the home side picked up a handy 6 (40) to 3 (28) win over Central Park, while Kialla Park downed St Andrew’s 6 (48) to 3 (38).
