The 2022 Victorian Open continues to provide plenty of excitement with the pointy end of the competition now here.

Two days of action remain in the tournament and at the time of writing a number of Goulburn Valley talents remain in contention across the divisions.

In the women’s singles Kyabram’s Lee Beattie remains in the running for the title, while in the men’s singles two district players remain with Kyabram’s Brent Reiner and Shepparton Golf’s Brad Orr making it through to the quarter-finals.

Orr is also still in contention for the men’s pairs title as is fellow Golf player Alan Dove, while in the women’s pairs Numurkah’s Helen Pickersgill, Numurkah Golf’s Kerry Ralph and Shepparton Park’s Carla Rikys were still in the running.

In the mixed pairs East Shepparton’s Stacey Collier and Tallygaroopna’s Mark Ryan were battling Leopold’s Nicole Shortis and Drysdale’s Callen Inderbeg for the title late on Wednesday afternoon.

It has been a nervous wait for some of the district contingent in the men’s triples, with Tallygaroopna’s Guy Madigan and Mark Ryan securing passage to finals in round three on Monday alongside Dove.

The rest of the division’s finals will be played out on Thursday, with Kyabram’s Geoff Beattie, Shepparton Golf’s Tim Gribble and Shepparton Golf’s Brett Foley in with a shot of moving through.

One district player remains in contention in the women’s triples with Numurkah’s Helen Brache helping her side through to the semi-finals.
