Day three of the Hockey Australia Country Championships tossed up a number of intriguing results, headlined by the shock loss of the table-topping men’s outfit.

Victoria suffered its first loss of the tournament ― 2-1 at the hands of Queensland ― on Monday night in a result that has blown open the men’s draw.

New South Wales breezed past South Australia 6-0, before it managed to edge out Queensland on Tuesday afternoon 3-1 at Shepparton’s hockey centre.

The win over Queensland elevates NSW to the top of the standings ahead of Wednesday’s schedule of matches.

In the women’s side of the fixture, Victoria dropped its second match of the campaign on Monday evening with a 5-1 defeat to Queensland.
