There has been action aplenty at Shepparton Lawn Tennis Club with the 2023 Goulburn Valley Junior and Open Championships being held.

Kicking off on New Year’s Day, players from across the region — and country — have been putting their best foot forward in a bid to take out the titles up for grabs.

At the time of writing there were still a number of district players in contention across the divisions.

In the Women’s Open category, Torrumbarry’s Isabella Crossman locked in a semi-final encounter with top seed Laquisa Khan, while David Poole suffered defeat in the Men’s Open quarter-final.

Poole’s doubles partner Jarrod Bingham bowed out of the Men’s Open division in the round-of-32, while Mark Mills suffered defeat in the semi-final and Jack Bassett fell in the round-of-16.

On the doubles courts the duo of Darcy and Hope Curtis-McDonald were due to battle it out in the Women’s Open doubles round-of-16 on Monday afternoon, while the pair of Bingham and Poole were fighting it out in the men’s round-of-32.

News photographer Rechelle Zammit got down to the courts on Sunday to capture the action.
