Hundreds of promising teenage basketballers descended on the Goulburn Valley at the weekend for the annual Shepparton Junior Basketball Tournament.

Teams from across Victoria attended the 2022 event, which was run across two days, and hosted at multiple venues in the region.

Shepparton was represented by more than a dozen teams — which ranged from under-12 to under-18.

The Gators had two outfits, under-18 boys and under-16 boys, make it through to their respective grand final.

Unfortunately, both teams were unable to get across the line.

The under-18s suffered a tense 38-33 defeat to Wodonga, while the under-16s settled for a 48-32 result against Traralgon.

In the remaining age groups the wins were harder to come by for the Gators contingent.

Shepparton’s under-18 girls, under-14 girls, under-14 boys, under-12 boys and under-18 boys division two outfits all managed one win.

But the division two sides for the under-16 girls and under-14 girls managed two wins, along with the under-12 boys division three contingent.

News photographer Megan Fisher attended the under-18 girls contest between Shepparton and Wodonga and captured plenty of action.
