A ridiculous 20 wickets fell for a total of 92 during the D-grade encounter between Pine Lodge and Mooroopna on Saturday with the Lodgers running out victors by 12 runs.
Wickets tumbled in quick succession at Lemnos Recreation Reserve with Mooroopna bundled out for 40 in reply to Pine Lodge’s total of 52.
The home side’s Braydon Kearns showcased his prowess with the ball and claimed incredible figures of 6-14 from eight overs.
Mitch Younger flexed his muscles for Mooroopna with 5-5 to be the Cats’ best contributor with the ball.
A total of seven ducks were recorded during the match.
Hawks soar to C-grade win
For a team that is renowned for not training, Invergordon recorded its first training session of the summer on Saturday with a comfortable six-wicket win over Central Park-St Brendan’s.
Jokes aside, the Hawks were dominant winners in the C-grade encounter and chased down the Tigers’ total of 9-189 during the 35th over.
Harley Green notched his second half-century of the season with a blistering 63 runs off 48 deliveries.
Earlier in the day, teenage Tiger Sam Holland registered a mature knock as he top-scored for his side with 61 runs from 103 deliveries.
Holland’s second 50 of the campaign came to an end thanks to some brilliance in the field from Travis Murdoch.
The skilful Hawk chimed in with 4-40 following his direct run-out.
Late to the party
We are a tad late to this one, but last weekend a trailblazer at Mooroopna enjoyed a fine day out with the ball.
Lauren Hall claimed career-best figures in the round 13 thriller over Pine Lodge and finished the match with 5-42.
Hall was the saviour for Mooroopna as she helped dismiss Pine Lodge all out for 190 in reply to the Cats’ 8-191.
